From idea to launch
Bess founder Christy Mack was thrilled to dive into the creation of a brand for a retail thrift shop being built by non-profits Rebuilding Together and Dorothy Day House to benefit people experiencing homelessness.
Named Dorothy’s Closet, this special shop is right off Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley. Dorothy’s Closet is full of preloved, donated fun and funky clothing and accessories. Even better? Every purchase helps Rebuilding Together and Dorothy Day House fund programs that bring free clothing, social services, job training and employment opportunities to the unhoused so they can make their way back home.
Christy and her Bess team, including Helen Alba and Joe Smith, designed a fresh, modern and vibrant brand to reflect the energy of Dorothy’s Closet. They created the accompanying website, social media and email platform as well as a full set of assets from business cards, letterhead, envelopes, postcards, presentations to thank you notes - even a line of merch. Christy led the creation of the store signage too.
